Roberto holds a M.Sc. in Political Science from El Colegio de México. His thesis focused on the transitional justice process in Guatemala and the development of the institutional design of the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CIGIG). Before joining WJP, he was a researcher at the Seminar on Violence and Peace where he studied electoral violence, criminal violence, and attacks against social leaders such as environmental and human rights defenders. Before studying his M.Sc. he also worked as a research assistant at the Center of Asian and African Studies at El Colegio de México. Roberto’s main interests are the access to justice, the promotion of human rights, and the mitigation and prevention of violence in complex scenarios.
