The aim of this program was to develop a Rule of Law Index for Science & Technology, which identified the basic principles and practical legal requirements for fostering science and technological innovation around the world. The AAAS established an international working group of scientists, engineers, and legal scholars to review existing literature and legal texts to determine the basic principles for healthy and prosperous innovation in STEM fields.
